An easy route linking two of the most beautiful communes in the Dorna area, with unforgettable scenery along the way.
The route starts on asphalt, passing the Tinovul Mic peat bog at Șaru Dornei on the road to Neagra Șarului village. After about 4 kilometres, before the centre of Neagra Șarului, the road turns almost 180 degrees and continues for about 1 kilometre to the bridge over the Neagra river, then heads upstream along the riverbank for about 2 kilometres.
Past the Neagra river meadows, the route starts to climb towards an area called Ciungi. From this stretch you can see the Călimani Mountains with the 12 Apostles Reserve to the south, while to the west a wide panorama of the Șarului depression opens up. We continue past hay fields and pastures with typical mountain flora for about 2 kilometres. On summer days you can enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass that fills these parts, while watching the simple life of the mountain people.
Further on, we reach an area called Bâtcă, with a view east over Panaci commune at the foot of the Bistrița Mountains. From here, the route descends along a ridge with fine views on both sides.
Once in Panaci village, the route heads back to the start by the shortest road between the two communes, crossing first the Călimănel stream and then the Neagra river.
